I confess: the capacity of asian breeders to breed fantastic derivates of Green, is for us a great source of envy!!! And I confess too that we are working hard to find our line of Green for 3.
The project started with two different lines of discus:
- one is asiatic (precisely malaysian) with some classic Leopard,
- the other is a cross from a Wild with a German Red Turquoise.
We chose to have two different lines to obtain a larger breeding stock with a greater chance of breeding.
Second generations of these two lines are different for two reasons:
- young of Malaysian Leopard have a blue base with large spots,
- young of Wild Green x German RT have a red base with fine spots.
F1 Wild Green x German RT: see the red base and small spots
F1 Leopard: see the the blue base and large spots
F1 Wild Green x German RT: in this case the base is red but spots are large
Subadult of F1 of Wild Green x German RT: like all selections from the Green and wild fishes, the livery shows only after 16/18 months of age
F1 Leopard pair (on the left) and F1 Wild Green x German RT (on the right)
F1 Leopard Juv
F1 Wild Green x German RT
Now we are working on new cross:
- F1 Wild Green x German RT x F1 Leopard
- F1 Leopard x Snake Skin
The firs choice was made to improve the color's quality and spots, the second to insert some "green blood" in Snake Skin. We will see and we'll inform you about soon!!!
